Helping kids fight anxiety-Bible verses to pray
I’m hearing the words “fear” & “anxiety” way too much lately & sadly, it’s coming from mom’s discussing their children’s struggles. Moms, I want to do something to help you with that. So, let’s talk about some Bibles verses that will help our kids fight fear.
Our kids are starting to show signs of fear and anxiety at very early ages. Recently, I had a talk with my kids about what it means for worry to “take root” in our hearts.
I reminded them of the plant we just potted a few days earlier. Fear, just like that plant, needs time to grow strong and sturdy in the place where it’s planted. If we give fear & anxiety the opportunity to get comfortable within our hearts, the roots of it will become deep and firmly planted. “So how do we stop the rooting from happening”, I asked? Answer…pluck it out, speak to it & refuse to let it get comfortable in your hearts!
Gods know what your dealing with
Moms, we must make it a point to send our kids running to the Word for direction. It’s comforting for them to know that God knows what they’re dealing with and as proof He puts assurance right in His Word for them. It’s important that they know God is on their side, and desires to bring them comfort.
Proverbs 3:25 Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes;
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Proverbs 12:25 Anxiety in the heart of man causes depression, But a good word makes it glad.
Speak life & destroy the lies
I’m aware that there are cases when the anxiety is so overwhelming that parents need to seek medical help. I’m certainly not opposed to that. What I’m referring to is when children are overloaded with the demands of their increasingly busy lives, fear of test taking, anxieties with trying to fit in & navigate peer pressures. And we can’t be naive to the spiritual battles that rage all around them. We have to teach our kids that they can have control over their choices & feelings rather than letting their emotions lead them. They need to know that they aren’t under the influence of negativity, they have a choice. They’re children of God, and therefore already victorious over the grave! Through Jesus Christ, they have the power to speak life and destroy the strongholds of fear and anxiety!
Psalm 56:3 Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.
Isaiah 12:2 Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; ‘For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation.’
Psalm 34:4 I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.
Ignoring the fear & anxiety is actually allowing it to silently take root. We must equip our children with the weapons they need to win the battle for their own hearts and minds. Let’s face it, life only gets tougher, equipping them with armor now is the best defense for their future. Print these bookmarks and make sure your children have a copy too. Have them keep it in their Bibles and pull them out when they need help fighting fear.
I encourage you to pray these verses with your kids. As they begin to tuck them away in their hearts, the Words of God, not fear, will become deeply rooted.
Much love, tons of giggles & continued grace,

I am sharing this with my daughter and several friends. This is so helpful
Oh Candy, I’m thankful I could share these with everyone. Thanks for passing them on.
I love these and pray these over my kiddos quite often… it also helps me at the same time!
So true Michelle. In teaching our kids, we’re also teaching ourselves.
These are beautiful scripture verses! I always pray with my little one who struggles with anxiety, but I’d never thought to open my bible with her. I think these will really help!
Amy, I can’t tell you how happy I am to provide these verses. I pray that as you begin to teach them and continue to pray with her, these verses will lodge in her heart.
I love this soo much! Thanks for sharing!
My pleasure Jehava!
Great roundup of voices! I used to have a little song “when I am afraid I will trust in you, I will trust in you, I will trust in you” I can still sing it to this day!
Aw Amanda, I love that! Songs stick with us for so long, don’t they? Music is huge in our house.
I needed this myself this week! Going to download.
Marya, I pray you enjoy these. I keep mine with me too.
I absolutely love this – this is something I’d like to incorporate with my kids 🙂
Corinne, these verses have been such a treasure to my kids. I gave my son a copy of the bookmark, and I found him reading it one night when he couldn’t sleep. Oh my heart!
I’m not a kid, but I can most definitely use these verses!
Of course! I use the bookmarks in my Bible too.
